Today we highlight Agilent’s approach to diversity and inclusion. It starts at the top.
Agilent President and CEO Mike McMullen has signed an executive pledge to support a more inclusive workplace. McMullen is part of CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, an executive-driven business initiative.
“Diversity and inclusion are representative of our core values,” McMullen says. “They are critical for our people and our team. But they are also critical for our company.”
One way Agilent practices this commitment is by fostering a positive working environment for women.
At Agilent Technologies, women rave about the “fantastic culture of trust, respect, and integrity” — and also love having the opportunity to connect their day-to-day work with bettering the world, be it addressing health issues and trends or the environment. They’re also hiring a bunch, across the country!
Dr. Solomon herself was recently honored by the University of Southern California. USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering hosted its 40th Viterbi Awards, dubbed the “Academy Awards of engineering.” The awards recognize “engineers who, motivated by a noble sense of purpose, apply their formidable skills and knowledge to better society.”
Solomon received the Daniel J. Epstein Engineering Management Award, presented to an industry leader in recognition of his or her exemplary accomplishments and in acknowledgement of executional contributions to the field of engineering. You can view a four-minute video tribute to Solomon here.
“There has never been a better or more exciting time to be an engineer or scientist,” Solomon says. “Our world is led by technology wherever you look.”
