April 22 is Earth Day, a worldwide celebration of the environment. Agilent offers more than 40 years of environmental expertise. Our technologies and solutions help ensure the safety of the world’s water, soil, air and food.
We do our part to be a good corporate citizen. In 2016, we diverted 89 percent of our waste away from landfills through recycling and composting. We reduced our annual water use by 14 percent.
Agilent has the third-lowest energy use among peer companies, and the lowest energy intensity when adjusted for revenue and employee headcount (TruCost). We received a 2016 “Gold Class Sustainability Award” (RobecoSAM). And we are ranked as one of the “Top Green Companies” in the U.S. (Newsweek).
This year’s Earth Day theme is Environmental & Climate Literacy. In today’s environment of increasing polarized discourse, “threats to science are pervasive throughout governments around the world” (United Nations). Earth Day 2017 is being celebrated with Global Teach-Ins and a March for Science in Washington, D.C.
Agilent promotes science education. Agilent After School is a hands-on science program targeted at children. And our University Relations program supports higher education science and research around the world through research collaborations, research tools, education support, recruiting of top university talent, and philanthropy.
