Agilent Technologies Malaysia hosted over 100 female students from three schools during its Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day program recently. Students were introduced to the different aspects of engineering and the career opportunities available to them as an engineer.
The highlight of the day was an interactive engineering project, where students were challenged to build a self-propelled airship, using only the materials provided, such as helium balloons, straws, paper cups and ice cream sticks. Teams then competed to see which airship could fly the furthest.
Agilent has been a sponsor of Introduce A Girl To Engineering for eight years, hosting the event at company sites around the world. The program, which focuses on math and science curricula for young women in middle and high school, is underwritten by the National Engineers Week Foundation.
